Record breaking Friday night for Super League

A new Super League record was set on Friday night by Wigan Warriors No. 1, Bevan French who crossed over the try line a staggering 7 tries against a depleted Hull FC side. The previous record was set by Lesley Vainikolo for the Bradford Bulls back in 2006, also against Hull FC.

Brett Hodgsons Black & Whites were defeated by 60 points to nil with Bevan French the main talking point with 7 tries to his name. Hull were against it from the first whistle all the way to the last and Wigan's pressure was relentless and FC could do nothing to deal with it.

Hull were dealt with more injury blows with big Prop Chris Satae going off after his first carry with what to be looked like a rolled ankle. He later came back on and was dealt another blow after he had to go off for a Head Injury Assessment, of which he failed.

The other injury blow for The Airlie Birds was other Prop, Scott Taylor who also failed a Head Injury Assessment. This means both Satae and Taylor will miss FC's home fixture on Friday against Castleford Tigers, where Lee Radford returns to MKM Stadium for the first time as Castleford Head Coach. Radford led Hull to back-to-back Challenge Cups back in 2016 and 2017 in a 6 year reign as FC Coach.

However, there is good news for The Black & Whites with 3 players all returning from their respective 2 match suspensions, Hull welcome back, Ligi Sao, Kane Evans and Jordan Johnstone in a bid to get back to winning ways.

It was Jai Field and Bevan French that caused Hull's left edge problems. Field was the creator of 4 of French's 7 tries, also grabbing a brace for himself, the other 2 scorers being Liam Marshall and Harry Smith also crossing over, adding to his 8 conversions.

Hull really didn't have an answer to Wigan's 11 tries that they scored and struggled to create anything due to their backs being against the wall from the first whistle.

Up next for Wigan is a trip to West Yorkshire to the Leeds Rhinos, who travel to France to face Toulouse is a crucial game for both teams later tonight. In scorching 39 degree heat.
